Customer Onboarding

A lot of churn is decided early. A customer who never finished setup was never going to renew, and they rarely tell you why. We run onboarding as a tracked sequence instead of a welcome email: setup help, a check-in at the point people usually stall, and a handover to standard support once the account is genuinely live.

Delivered by a dedicated team

What the team handles

Customer Onboarding

  • Welcome contact and account setup walkthroughs
  • Data import, configuration and first-use questions
  • Scheduled check-ins at the steps where new accounts usually stall
  • Training sessions and walkthrough recordings, where your product needs them
  • Handover to standard support once the account is live
  • Flagging accounts that go quiet before they churn

We confirm scope with you during the design stage and write it into the operating plan before the team goes live.

Measurement

Metrics usually agreed for this service

We set targets with you before launch. These are the measures the conversation usually starts from — the numbers attached to them are yours to define.

  • 01

    Target set per client

  • 02

    Onboarding completion rate

    Target set per client

  • 03

    Target set per client

  • 04

Reporting cadence, escalation thresholds and the review meeting rhythm are agreed alongside the targets themselves.

Practical questions about customer onboarding

The questions buyers ask once the brochure stage is over.

How is this different from your normal support?
Support waits for the customer to ask. Onboarding goes to them on a schedule, whether or not they've raised a hand. That's the whole point — the customers most likely to churn are the ones who never get in touch.
What do you need from us to run it?
A working definition of "onboarded" for your product, and a way to see where an account has got to. If you can't tell us which step a customer is stuck on, we can't chase it, and we'd rather say that than run a check-in script that guesses.
Can you onboard enterprise accounts?
Up to a point. Routine setup, scheduling, chasing documents, answering configuration questions — yes. A named implementation lead negotiating with your customer's IT department is your job, and it's better to hear that now than three accounts in.
How do you know whether onboarding is working?
By tracking activation rather than activity. Calls made and emails sent are easy numbers to hit and tell you almost nothing. What we report is how many accounts reached first successful use, how long it took, and which step they stalled on — because the third one is what you can actually fix.
